CV - Prof. Mario Dini
Prof. Mario Dini was born in Florence on 5 October, 1966.
In 1985, he graduated from a classical lyceum, then enrolled in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence where he graduated in October 1991 with a final mark of 110 cum laude. In January 1992, Prof. Mario Dini became qualified to practice medicine after having passed the National Qualification Exam and has been registered on the Board of Physicians of Florence since then.
He was a fellow at the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Catania, where he specialised in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in 1997, receiving top marks cum laude. At the same time, he qualified to practice medicine in the United States (USMLE).
Between October of ‘97 and March of ‘98, he did an internship in the Plastic Surgery Unit at the University of Florence and achieved the role of University Researcher at the same University. In 2002, he was nominated Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and held that position for the next ten years.
In March 2005, he was appointed Chief of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit at the Careggi University Hospital and served in that role until April 2012. In addition, from 2009 to 2012 he was the Director of the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Residency Program at the University of Florence. Abroad, he has had the honour of frequenting important plastic surgery centres including Porto Alegre in Brazil, Paris, Philadelphia and Beijing.
He is a member of SICPRE (Association of Italian Plastic Surgeons), AICPE (Italian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), the most important societies of plastic and aesthetic surgery, both nationally and internationally.
Prof. Mario Dini has performed approximately twelve thousand surgical procedures. His professional work is documented through his participation in numerous national and international congresses and conferences and over 160 publications in the most accredited journals in the sector. Over the years, Prof. Dini has turned his attention to subjects of great interest in the field, including reconstruction (especially breasts, head and neck, limbs) and neoplastic skin lesions. The professor also concentrates on aesthetic surgical procedures like rhinoplasty, augmentation and reduction mastoplasty, abdominoplasty, liposuction and lipofilling, post-bariatric plastic surgery, blepharoplasty and facelifts.
In collaboration with the Department of Experimental Pathology and Oncology at the University of Florence, Prof. Dini has conducted studies on adipocytes and anti-apoptotic processes and has patented the anti-apoptotic activity of Coenzyme Q10. He has participated and actively participates in humanitarian plastic and reconstructive surgery missions around the world.
