Botulinum Toxin - Wrinkle and hyperhidrosis treatment

WHAT IS BOTULINUM TOXIN?

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin created in laboratories that is derived from the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. It is absolutely safe as it has been completely deactivated and stripped of any collateral effects. Aesthetic medical treatments using botulinum toxins usually have the purpose of reducing expression lines (dynamic wrinkles) for about 6 months, acting directly on the subcutaneous muscles, temporarily preventing the release of acetylcholine, a substance the body produces and uses to transfer nerve impulses from nerve fibres to muscular structures.

Prof. Dini recommends the use of high-quality botulinum toxins like: Botox®, Botox Cosmetic®, Vistabex®, Vistabel®, Dysport®, Azzalure®, Bocouture®, Xeomin®, PurTox®, NeuroBloc®, Myobloc®, even though some of these products have yet to be authorised in Italy.

WHAT TREATMENTS CAN BE DONE WITH BOTULINUM TOXIN?

The treatments the Professor does using botulinum toxin are mostly to reduce wrinkles on the upper part and middle third of the face. Botulinum toxin has also proven particularly effective in treating hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating in the armpits, hands and feet.

WHAT RESULTS ARE ACHIEVED?

In both cases (treating wrinkles and hyperhidrosis), results are excellent and have a duration that varies between 3 and 6 months, depending on the patient’s reabsorption capacity.

When that time has passed, the patient can choose to repeat the treatment, thereby ensuring the continuation of the results obtained.

Botulinum toxin injections do not require anaesthesia and are practically painless: the injections are done using a syringe with an extremely thin needle directly into the areas to be treated.
